General information, not medical advice. Every pregnancy is different — bring questions to your OB or midwife.

Your baby at 40 weeks

The baby is fully developed and ready to be born, though it may still be adding a little fat. The skull bones remain slightly flexible to ease delivery, and the baby continues to move regularly.

How you might feel

It's your due date, but only about 1 in 20 babies arrive exactly on it, so patience is normal.

This week's tip: Keep monitoring your baby's movements and discuss options with your provider if you go past 41 weeks.
